All of Auntie Val's delicious range of artisan made marmalades, jam's, pickles, chutneys and sauces have one thing in common – they are handmade in England by people with disabilities.

Inspired by her Grandmother's love of jam making, Auntie Val's recipes are packed with the finest ingredients. Made in small open pan batches, they are lovingly created in the traditional way. There are no artificial preservatives, flavours or colours and no E's but the secret ingredient in all of Auntie Val's preserves is the dedicated team that makes them. Known as the “Jammy Dodgers”, this is a special group of people.

Auntie Val's Kitchens CIC only employs people 16+ with disabilities. As Auntie Val herself says “By offering work experience and training we we aim to get people with disabilities into work either at Auntie Val's or within the wider business community.

“Everything we do is about ability not disability”

As a non-profit organisation, any surplus revenue from Auntie Val's products is reinvested to provide opportunities for as mainly people with disabilities as possible.

As well as cooking, the “Jammy Dodgers” are trained in admin And IT skills and future plans include a café and retail area to broaden the training to provide OAP lunches and courses to help disabled people with cooking healthily on a restricted budget.

“It's not just about the disability that you can see,” says Val “Training in a workplace like this enables people to be more confident, self-assured and proud to be able to contribute to society.”

At the heart of the ethos are Award Winning Preserves that have made Auntie Val's Kitchens Famous.

Not content with just a couple of marmalade blends, Auntie Val offers more than twenty. There are traditional jams like Damson Extra and Luxury Strawberry but the jam connoisseur should try like High Dumpsie-Dearie, an old Sussex recipe with plum, pear and apple or strawberry & Vanilla – a subtle twist on summertime favourite.

As well as the premium Auntie Val's range there are also a wider market “Downsman” brand and the kitchens also produce preserves for other well known companies.

White label and co-branded products are also an important part of the Auntie Val's output. Small batches allow for bespoke production to suit the needs of hotels and catering companies who are looking for something special
