Plan Bee wins two awards at prestigious Green Apple Business Awards

View the whole press release

The pioneering work of a Lanarkshire sustainability company has been recognized with 2 awards at the prestigious international Green Apple Awards. Plan Bee was awarded Silver in the Environmental Improvement category and scooped the top prize as National Green Champion for Scotland.

Plan Bee has already amassed a haul of gongs in its short history. It can now rub shoulders with the big names of the environmental sector and some of the biggest global brands. The Green Apple Environmental Awards are an annual, international campaign to recognize, reward and promote environment best practice around the world.

Warren Bader, Plan Bee’s CEO is rightfully buzzing:
“We’re delighted to be considered in the same category as some of the biggest names in not only our industry, but some real global big brands. Our awards for Environmental Improvement and National Green Champion, Scotland are testament to the waves we are creating within the Green Economy”

Having started out just a few years ago, Plan Bee Ltd has come a long way in a short time, but has ambitions to grow even further. Dedicated to halting the decline in honeybee numbers, Plan Bee offers a wide range of services including beehive rental and management; community engagement projects; educational outreach with schools; and turning waste land into wildflower meadows.

Honeybee numbers have reduced by more than 50% in the last 2 decades . This is partly due to climate change but also to poor pesticide management and man’s negative impact on the environment. If honeybee numbers continue to decline at this rate, the effect on the world would be disastrous. Plan Bee has been working in partnership with companies, large and small, to halt this slide. With over 360 managed beehives from Aberdeen to Cornwall, Plan Bee has already returned more than 15-million honeybees to the natural environment.

Most importantly, we have delivered our educational programme to over 26,000 school children - #GenerationBee – to raise awareness of the plight of the honeybee and capture the children’s imagination. Through curriculum-based work, activities and practical beekeeping sessions, they learn about the delicate balance in eco-systems and how we can all do our bit to help protect our planet’s finite resources.

Receiving the Awards at the House of Commons in London, Warren Bader was proud to accept them on behalf of his hard-working, innovative team at Plan Bee and wished to dedicate them to the humble, industrious honeybees within our bee hives.
