PGI Certified Ceylon Cinnamon
Ceylon Cinnamon’ products are produced from the tree Cinnamomum zeylanicum Blume. Botanically ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’ plant belongs to the genus Cinnamomum of the Lauraceae family. ‘Ceylon Cinnamon’ refers to the specific cultivated species of cinnamon indigenous to Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Cinnamon grown and produced in Sri Lanka has acquired long standing reputation in the international market due to its unique, quality, colour, flavour and aroma.
The unique method of processing and curing of cinnamon entices the characteristic Flavour over cassia. The preparation of Cinnamon quills involves a combination of art and skill unique to Sri Lanka and has been handed down from generation to generation over centuries.
Coumarin in Ceylon Cinnamon is negligible and high in polyphenols. Being high in antioxidants is good for overall health.
Cut Quills
Quills are produced out of the inner bark of mature cinnamon stems: the trees are harvested and their outer bark is scrapped. The cut quills are composed of quills cut to the size required by the Customers. There are different type of Cinnamon grades ; Alba, C5(special) –C3, M and H.
