Palacio de Bornos results
The prestigious wine critic Beth Willard has awarded outstanding scores to Palacio de Bornos wines in her 2026 tasting of D.O. Rueda wines, conducted for the influential Tim Atkin MW report.

A passionate advocate of Spanish wine, Beth Willard is a key figure within this report. For years, she has worked closely with producers across the country, providing a personal, technical, and highly current perspective on emerging trends in Spanish wine.

Tim Atkin, for his part, is one of the most internationally recognized wine journalists. A Master of Wine with nearly 40 years of experience, he regularly contributes to prestigious publications such as Decanter, Harpers, and The Drinks Business, and is also co-chair of the International Wine Challenge, one of the world’s most important wine competitions.

In  January  2026,  Beth  Willard  returned  to  Rueda  to  produce  her  third independent report for Tim Atkin. On this occasion, she tasted a total of 310 wines from 57 producers, including Palacio de Bornos. In the report, Beth highlights the initial concerns of Pilar García, winemaker at Palacio de Bornos, regarding the 2025 harvest: “The wines were quite homogeneous, but suddenly everything came together. The vintage is very good, and the wines are already ready to drink.”

During the presentation of the TOP 100 WINES OF RUEDA Report at the Wine Paris fair, the winery’s latest release, Palacio de Bornos Colección de Familia Sergio Hernández, was awarded the Value Gran Vino de Rueda prize, in addition to receiving an impressive score of 95 points.

Other wines from the winery that also received excellent scores included Palacio de Bornos Verdejo Fermented in Barrel and Palacio de Bornos La Caprichosa Verdejo on Lees, both scoring 93 points, followed by Palacio de Bornos Brut Nature with 91 points, and Palacio de Bornos Verdejo, which received 90 points from Tim Atkin.
