How strong is our sector? IFE 2019 speaker Paul Hargreaves gives his insight.

"After spending most of last week at trade events, I thought I would give an assessment this week of the strength of the speciality food sector. Most people’s view is that we are booming. The IFE show last week was busier than I expected with some aisles very crowded indeed at the peak hours of the day. Stands seemed to be busy and when asking the question of how business is currently going, many give positive answers. However, if you scratch a little deeper under the surface I wonder whether all in the garden is rosy?..."

Over 27,000 visitors attended IFE 2019, which took place over 17th - 20th March at London’s ExCel. More than 1,350 new and trend-setting international food and drink brands exhibited their latest product innovations; including everything from charcoal-infused drinks and popped lotus seed snacks to meat-free burgers and healthy protein-based ketchup

Hot topics included the implications of Brexit and in particular, importing and exporting food and drink produce, with leading figures such as Sandra Sullivan MBE, from the Food & Drink Exporters Association, and Ian Wright, from the Food & Drink Federation, debating the key issues.
