Prof. Chris Chuck

Chief Technology Officer , Clean Food Group

Prof. Chris Chuck is a Professor of Bioprocess Engineering at the University of Bath and the Chief Technology Officer at the Clean Food Group. Since joining the Department of Chemical Engineering as a Research Fellow in 2011, he has worked to pioneer the development of innovative and sustainable products for the food industry. This has included valorising seaweed into biopolymers, deriving edible food fractions from grass, and developing a yeast platform to transform agricultural residues into edible oils, proteins, and functional food ingredients. Professor Chuck co-founded the Clean Food Group in 2022, to commercialise this work, aiming to combat deforestation by using precision fermentation to produce a yeast-based alternative to tropical oils.
