David Hill
Cocoda is a boutique export brokerage supplying premium British chocolates, confectionery, and biscuits to multiple overseas markets.
David’s career in the sector began with an early role at United Biscuits in the late 1980s, before taking shape in earnest in 1996 when he was mentored by Angus Thirlwell, Founder of Hotel Chocolat. This introduction to fine chocolate led to senior sales and marketing roles with UK-based importers, distributors, and later manufacturers, where David began to gain export experience. His final position prior to founding Cocoda was within the Charbonnel et Walker group, before establishing the business in 2004.
Working alongside Commercial Director Rupert Allinson, Cocoda now represents several complementary UK brands and operates firmly as a ‘brand builder’ rather than a ‘box shifter’, securing and growing sales across every continent.
David is a DBT Export Champion, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), and serves on the Board of the Food & Drink Exporters Association (FDEA) as its Confectionery Specialist.
