Gareth Ward

Chef Proprietor, Ynyshir
Gareth Ward is the chef patron of Ynyshir, a Michelin-starred, 4 AA Rosette restaurant with rooms on the edge of Snowdonia National Park in Wales. Originally from County Durham, Gareth’s first foray into professional kitchens was at his local pub, but he soon moved onto more serious haunts, working under Aaron Patterson at Hambleton Hall in Rutland, at Michelin-starred Seaham Hall under Steve Smith, and for the legendary Sat Bains at his eponymous Nottingham Restaurant. In 2013, he took on his first head chef role at Ynyshir, earning a Michelin star in his first full year, followed by Wales’ first 5 AA Rosettes. He and his partner Amelia Eriksson transformed the Relais Chateaux hotel into a restaurant with rooms when he took over as chef patron in 2016.
