Vanessa Marx is Executive Chef of Riverhouse Restaurant at Bingham Riverhouse in Richmond, where she leads a seasonally driven, low-waste kitchen rooted in local sourcing, foraging and slow food principles. Since opening in 2024, Riverhouse has been named Restaurant of the Year at the Marie Claire Sustainability Awards, achieved three stars from the Sustainable Restaurant Association, and helped Bingham Riverhouse become a Certified B Corporation.

Originally from South Africa, Vanessa co-founded the acclaimed Dear Me Food World and was recognised with the Eat Out Rising Star Award, alongside television appearances including Celebrity MasterChef South Africa. Her menus champion wild ingredients, garden botanicals and innovative circular food systems, including urban-grown oyster mushrooms cultivated from recycled coffee grounds.

Vanessa also creates nourishing retreat menus with bhuti, speaks widely on sustainable hospitality, and is a vocal advocate for women in the industry.
