Tunisian olive oil shines beyond !
It is for having sought to confuse the horizon with an
infinity of greenish lines that the perfect sketch took shape. Among the proven
facts is that around one fifth of the world's olive-growing area is in Tunisia.
The landscape aesthetic invites us to make sense before
picking with dignity, with our frail hands, a unique fruit, with flavors beyond
what is known.
For almost two decades, the promotion of the olive sector
has been at the centre of the economic recovery strategy. The achievements are
diverse and multiple: Export to more than 60 countries; Exponential number of
operators; A national production that tends to balance; A collective awareness
of the importance of producing quality olive oil; Modernization of the sector;
The adoption of a strategic vision and the strengthening of notoriety.
According to the National Institute of Statistics (INS),
Tunisian exports of agricultural and agri-food products increased by 1%, driven
by the increase in the value of olive oil sales to 610.5 MD against 518.4 MD in
January 2024.
Tunisian exports to the European Union reached 3,791.4 MD in
January 2026, representing 71.6% of total exports, compared to 3,413.8 MD in
January 2025.
In addition to promising national production and lower
selling prices, Tunisia has distinguished itself in recent years in the Mario
Solinas competition. As regards the most serious olive oil competition, this
says a lot about the level reached by distinguished companies in the olive
sector.
